Dual filtered interface in one housing. 10GBASE-T Ethernet and USB 3 ‘Super Speed’.

SKU: JRE LAN10G-USB 3-1 Category:

Description

Test both 10G Ethernet and USB 3 "SuperSpeed" devices in a sealed RF environment without throttling your data — two independent filters in a single housing. The LAN10G-USB 3's patented design is not a low-pass filter — it rejects wireless RF interference without touching the high-speed data the way conventional filters do.

  • Two fully independent, fully passive filter sections in one housing — a 10GBASE-T Ethernet filter and a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed filter — saving I/O plate space and cost versus two separate filters
  • Patented signal-phasing topology (two US patents), NOT a low-pass filter — discriminates data from RF interference rather than attenuating both
  • Ethernet section: 10GBASE-T over RJ-45 copper twisted pair, also handles 5GBASE-T and 2.5GBASE-T — PoE pass-through compatible
  • USB section: standard Type-A, handles USB 1.1, 2.0 and 3.x "SuperSpeed"
  • No inherent data-speed limit in either section — achievable rate is set by total cable attenuation, not by the filter
  • Proper enumeration over a direct "copper" path on both sections — test hiccups are exchanged end-to-end, with none of the silent hang-ups a fiber or media-converter link can hide
  • Fully passive by design — no active components, no firmware, nothing that could be subverted in a data-side attack
  • 100% made in USA
  • 80 dB conducted attenuation, 50 MHz to over 6 GHz, on each section
  • Equivalent cable length: USB section ~1–1.5 m, Ethernet section ~2 m — budget for it in your overall cable length
  • One USB 3.0 Type-A jumper and one RJ-45 Ethernet jumper cable included — one per section
  • Secured with multiple 4-40 screws (mounting template included) for a reliable, repeatable RF seat — not a single-nut mount that can loosen and leak
  • Rugged machined-aluminum housing
  • Works with any RF test enclosure or screen room

The JRE LAN10G-USB 3 is two separate, fully independent filtered interfaces — one 10GBASE-T Ethernet, one USB 3.0 SuperSpeed — built into a single rugged machined-aluminum housing. Combining them on one footprint saves space on the I/O plate and costs less than two stand-alone filters, while each section performs exactly as its single-filter counterpart would.

Both sections work on an entirely different principle from older data filters. Earlier designs low-pass filtered the data lines to knock down interfering wireless RF — but as data rates climbed, the data itself moved up into the same frequency band as the interference, and a low-pass filter can no longer tell them apart: it attenuates both. Our patented design — for which we hold two US patents — instead exploits the fact that the data travels as balanced differential pairs while the interfering RF appears as common mode. Using signal-phasing techniques and topology, it discriminates between the two — rejecting the RF while passing the data clean — with no low-pass filtering anywhere on the data conductors, plus filtered power and return lines. This matters most exactly where low-pass filtering fails: when the signaling rate falls inside the wireless bands (10G Ethernet, USB 3 SuperSpeed), or when the interfering source itself sits inside a low-pass filter's pass band (key fobs, RFID).

Speed and cables — what actually governs your data rate. Neither section has a speed limit of its own; each "looks like" a short length of cable, and it's the total attenuation of the filter plus your connecting cables that sets the achievable rate. The USB section looks like roughly 1 to 1.5 m of USB cable — with the included jumper you'll reliably pass 5 Gbps and often up to 10 Gbps depending on your devices and cabling; for the fastest rates over longer runs, use an active cable on the external side. The Ethernet section looks like about 2 m of cable, which Ethernet shrugs off — its cable budget is far larger than USB SuperSpeed's, so the added length is negligible.

USB section. Balanced differential data pairs using the patented signal-phasing topology, plus filtered power and return lines. Standard USB Type-A connectors for simple, reliable connection. Passes USB 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 SuperSpeed data while rejecting undesired RF by 80 dB. One USB 3.0 Type-A male-to-male jumper cable included.

Ethernet section. Balanced differential data pairs using the patented signal-phasing topology — no low-pass filtering on any data conductor. Standard RJ-45 connectors, fully PoE pass-through compatible. Passes the Ethernet data while rejecting undesired RF by 80 dB. One RJ-45 Ethernet jumper cable included. Note that this section is built for 10GBASE-T — copper twisted pair on RJ-45 — and for the lower twisted-pair rates (5GBASE-T, 2.5GBASE-T). It is not compatible with 10GBASE-R / SFP+ / fiber-based 10G, which use a fundamentally different signaling scheme; if your equipment uses SFP+ optical modules, you'll want fiber pass-throughs instead.
