Dual HDMI with Ethernet Ver.1.4 compliant filter, usable at higher HDMI versions/speeds using active cables

SKU: JRE HDMI-2 Category:

Description

Test two HDMI devices in a sealed RF environment without compromising the video signal — both channels in a single housing. The HDMI-2's patented design is not a low-pass filter — it rejects wireless RF interference without touching the high-speed HDMI data the way conventional filters do.

  • Two fully independent, fully passive HDMI filtered channels in one housing — saves I/O plate space versus two single filters
  • HDMI version 1.4 and higher compliant, including HDMI Ethernet (HEC), ARC, CEC and HEAC, over standard Type-A connectors
  • Patented signal-phasing topology (two US patents), NOT a low-pass filter — discriminates data from RF interference rather than attenuating both
  • No inherent data-speed limit in the filter itself — achievable rate is set by total cable attenuation, not by the filter
  • Same filter across HDMI versions — the version (1.x, 2.x) lives in the source and sink devices; the cable and the filter are the limiting factor, not the version number
  • Fully passive by design — no active components, no firmware, nothing that could be subverted in a data-side attack
  • 100% made in USA
  • 80 dB conducted attenuation, 50 MHz to over 6 GHz, on each channel
  • Each channel appears to the link as roughly 2 m of HDMI cable — budget for it in your overall cable length
  • Two HDMI Type-A male-to-male jumper cables included — one per channel
  • Secured with multiple 4-40 screws (mounting template included) for a reliable, repeatable RF seat — not a single-nut mount that can loosen and leak
  • Rugged machined-aluminum housing
  • Works with any RF test enclosure or screen room

The JRE HDMI-2 is a fully passive dual HDMI filtered interface built into a single machined-aluminum housing that gives exceptional RF shielding on every data and control line. The two channels are completely independent — each is its own full HDMI filter — so a second display, capture device, or HDMI source costs you only one mounting footprint on the I/O plate instead of two. It uses standard HDMI Type-A connectors and is fully compliant with HDMI version 1.4 and higher, including the Ethernet, ARC, CEC and HEAC channels.

It works on an entirely different principle from older HDMI bulkheads. The earlier approach was simply a shielded HDMI feedthrough with no real filtering — isolation depended on the cable shield alone, which is leaky, especially at higher RF frequencies. You can't simply low-pass filter HDMI either: as the data rates climbed, the HDMI signal moved up into the same frequency band as the interfering wireless RF, so a low-pass filter can no longer tell them apart — it attenuates both. Our patented design — for which we hold two US patents — instead exploits the fact that the HDMI data travels as balanced differential pairs while the interfering RF appears as common mode. Using signal-phasing techniques and topology, it discriminates between the two — rejecting the RF while passing the video clean — with no low-pass filtering anywhere on the data pairs, plus appropriately filtered control and low-frequency lines.

Speed and cables — what actually governs your data rate. Neither channel has a speed limit of its own; electrically each "looks like" about 2 meters of HDMI cable, and it's the total attenuation of the filter plus your connecting cables that sets the achievable rate. For everyday HDMI that's a non-issue. For the higher-rate versions and longer runs, use an active (RedMere-style) cable on the external side — it regenerates and equalizes the signal to overcome the filter's equivalent length. Contact us and we'll help you pick one for your devices and cable lengths.

Only need one HDMI port? The JRE HDMI-1 is the single-channel version. For the full cable-length, active-cable, and speed discussion that applies to all our high-speed data filters, see USB-3 and USB-C Special Considerations — the same principles apply to HDMI.
