Dual filtered interface in one housing. 10GBASE-T Ethernet and USB 2

SKU: JRE LAN10G-USB 2 Category:

Description

Test both 10G Ethernet and USB 2.0 devices in a sealed RF environment — two independent filters in a single housing. Each section passes your data clean while rejecting cellular, LTE, and WiFi interference.

  • Two fully independent, fully passive filter sections in one housing — a 10GBASE-T Ethernet filter and a USB 2.0 filter — saving I/O plate space and cost versus two separate filters
  • Two filtering approaches, each matched to its data rate: our patented signal-phasing topology for the 10G Ethernet section, a precision low-pass for the USB 2.0 section (why, below)
  • Ethernet section: patented signal-phasing topology (two US patents), NOT a low-pass filter — discriminates 10GBASE-T data from RF interference rather than attenuating both; 80 dB isolation, 50 MHz to over 6 GHz
  • Ethernet section runs 10GBASE-T over RJ-45 copper twisted pair, also handles 5GBASE-T and 2.5GBASE-T — PoE pass-through compatible
  • USB 2.0 section: precision low-pass — passes all USB 2.0 data below 480 MHz clean while rejecting cellular, LTE, and WiFi above 700 MHz; data lines rejected by more than 80 dB from 1 GHz through 6 GHz, power lines by more than 80 dB from 400 MHz through 6 GHz
  • USB section standard Type-A, handles USB 1.1 and 2.0 up to 480 Mbps
  • Proper enumeration over a direct "copper" path — test hiccups are exchanged end-to-end, with none of the silent hang-ups a fiber or media-converter link can hide
  • Fully passive by design — no active components, no firmware, nothing that could be subverted in a data-side attack
  • 100% made in USA
  • Ethernet section appears to the link as roughly 2 m of cable — negligible for Ethernet's large cable budget
  • One USB 2.0 Type-A jumper and one RJ-45 Ethernet jumper cable included — one per section
  • Secured with multiple 4-40 screws (mounting template included) for a reliable, repeatable RF seat — not a single-nut mount that can loosen and leak
  • Rugged machined-aluminum housing
  • Works with any RF test enclosure or screen room

The JRE LAN10G-USB 2 is two separate, fully independent filtered interfaces — one 10GBASE-T Ethernet, one USB 2.0 — built into a single rugged machined-aluminum housing. Combining them on one footprint saves space on the I/O plate and costs less than two stand-alone filters.

As with all our combos, the two sections filter on different principles, because they run at different speeds. The 10G Ethernet section can't use low-pass filtering: at 10GBASE-T rates the data sits up in the same frequency band as the interfering wireless RF, and a low-pass filter can no longer tell them apart — it would attenuate both. So this section uses our patented signal-phasing design — for which we hold two US patents — which exploits the fact that the data travels as balanced differential pairs while the interfering RF appears as common mode. Using signal-phasing techniques and topology, it discriminates between the two — rejecting the RF while passing the data clean — with no low-pass filtering anywhere on the data conductors. This is especially valuable where a low-pass filter fails: when the signaling rate falls inside the wireless bands, or when the interfering source itself sits inside a low-pass filter's pass band (key fobs, RFID).

The USB 2.0 section, by contrast, is a precision low-pass filter — and for USB 2.0 that's exactly right. USB 2.0 tops out at 480 Mbps, well below the wireless bands, so there's a clean gap between the data (below 480 MHz) and the interference you're keeping out (above 700 MHz). A low-pass filter passes everything below the gap untouched and rejects everything above it hard.

Ethernet / LAN section. Balanced differential data pairs using the patented signal-phasing topology — no low-pass filtering on any data conductor. Standard RJ-45 connectors, fully PoE pass-through compatible. Passes the Ethernet data while rejecting undesired RF by 80 dB. This section is built for 10GBASE-T — copper twisted pair on RJ-45 — and for the lower twisted-pair rates (5GBASE-T, 2.5GBASE-T). It is not compatible with 10GBASE-R / SFP+ / fiber-based 10G, which use a fundamentally different signaling scheme; if your equipment uses SFP+ optical modules, you'll want fiber pass-throughs instead. Electrically it looks like about 2 m of cable, which Ethernet shrugs off — its cable budget is far larger than USB's. One RJ-45 Ethernet jumper cable included.

USB section. A USB 2.0-compliant low-pass filter with proper device enumeration, so any test hiccups are exchanged end-to-end between host and device — none of the silent hang-ups a fiber or media-converter link can hide. It passes data and power between the host on one side and the USB device on the other, using a balanced bidirectional data pair plus an unbalanced power-and-return pair, on standard USB Type-A connectors. The data lines pass USB 1.1/2.0 up to 480 Mbps while rejecting RF by more than 80 dB from 1 GHz through 6 GHz; the power lines pass DC while rejecting more than 80 dB from 400 MHz through 6 GHz. One USB 2.0 Type-A male-to-male jumper cable included.

Need the sections separately? See the single JRE LAN-10G and JRE USB 2-1 filters. Need SuperSpeed USB instead of USB 2.0? The JRE LAN10G-USB 3 pairs the same 10G Ethernet section with a patented USB 3 SuperSpeed filter.
